Ilocos
One
of the most pictureseque and historically important regions of the
Philippines, Ilocos is located in northwestern Luzon. Designated as
Region I, the scenic Ilocos region is comprised of four provinces
- Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan. Ilocos Norte
and Ilocos Sur are the two most famous tourist destinations in the
Phillipines. Laoag, the capital of Ilocos Norte, is known for its
exceptional scenic beauty and the rich architectural and cultural
heritage. The colonial structures and the churches of Ilocos Norte,
including the Cathedral of Saint William, the Paoay Church and the
Church of Sta. Monica are major tourist attractions in the region.
The historic town of Vigan, Ilocos Sur with its 16th century Spanish houses, religious structures, and amazing historical landmarks, is another major tourist destination in Ilocos. It's the only surviving colonial town in the entire Philippines. The La Union Province is famous for its lovely beaches and the scenic Lingayen Gulf, making it a favorite destination for beach lovers and scuba divers.
Location
Ilocos is located in northwestern part of Luzon. It is bordered by the Cagayan Valley from the east, Central Luzon from the south and the South China Sea from the west. Laoag, the capital of Ilocos Norte, is located at about 487 km from Manila and Vigan is about 403 km from Manila.

Hundred Islands National Park: It's one of the most famous and visited tourist destinations in the Philippines, located in the Lingayen Gulf in Pangasinan. The small but enchantingly beautiful Hundred Islands National Park is dotted with 123 small, pristine islands, although some are just large rocks.
Vigan Colonial Houses: The historic city of Vigan, Ilocos Sur is famous for its 16th century Spanish houses, religious structures, and amazing historical landmarks. It's the only surviving colonial town in the entire Philippines.
Catholic Churches: The Iliocs region has a number of beautiful old Catholic churches including the Cathedral of Saint William, the Paoay Church and the Church of Sta. Monica. The Paoay Church is a fortress-like church built of coral blocks and stucco-plastered bricks, representing a unique combination of Gothic, Baroque and Oriental styles. It has a three-story bell tower used as an observation post during the days of guerrillas of World War.
Paoay Lake: A beautiful fresh water inland lake, Paoay Lake is a famous tourist destination in Ilocos. A famous fish aquaculture and a sports complex, it was declared a National Park in 1969.
Suba Beach: The most exotic beach in the Ilocos region, Suba Beach in Paoay, is famous for its extensive sand dunes and exciting surf. The Suba Beach offers an unforgettable sunset view.
Other must see tourist attractions in Ilocos include the famous Ayala Museum, Cape Bojeador Lighthouse and Ilocandia Museum.
