Bohol

BoholBohol is an enchantingly beautiful and picturesque island province in Central Philippines. One of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Philippines, Bohol is famous for its scenic hills, enchanting waterfalls, lovely clean beaches, diving spots, amazing wildlife and beautiful colonial structures. Bohol is also one of the finest eco-tourism destinations in Asia and it is the first in Asia ever to be awarded with an ISO 14001 certification for environment and ecology.

Location

Bohol is located in the Central Philippines at a distance of about 700 kilometers from Manila. Tagbilaran is the capital city of the province and can be conveniently reached by air and boat. While a flight from Manila takes 1 hr and 15 minutes, a boat will take about 25 hours to reach at Tagbilaran.

Prime Tourist Attractions

Chocolate Hills: The most famous tourist attraction in Bohol province, the Chocolate Hills consist of 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills. All of them look uniform in shape and their height ranges between 30-50 meters. Two of these hills have been developed into world-class resorts.

Dauis Church: Located at just 3 km from Tagbilaran City in the island of Panglao, Dauis Church is one of the most beautiful churches in Philippines. Built by Spaniards, the Church is known for its interesting architecture, which is a fine blend of Byzantine and Romanesque architectural style. The interior of the church has some impressive frescoes painted on the ceiling.

Punta Cruz Watch Tower: Located at about 13 km from Tagbilaran City in Maribojoc, it's an amazing 18th century triangular watch tower built by Spanish. The Tower offers breathtaking views of Cebu, Siquijor, and Mindanao and is a famous picnic spot in Bohol.

Baclayon Church: It's one of the oldest stone churches in the Philippines, located at 6 km from Tagbilaran City in the town of Baclayon. Still retaining its centuries old architectural design, the church had many interesting relics and artifacts belonging to the early 16th century, which are now housed at the Baclayon Museum.

The Tarsier Sanctuary: The Philippine tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) is probaly the smallest known primate in the world, measuring only 4-5 inches. The tarsiers are amongst the rarest and the most endangered wildlife on the earth. As they resemble monkeys in looks and behaviour, they are considered to be the smallest monkeys (though they don't belong to monket category) found in the world.

Tourists Activities

Bohol offers an exciting range of leisure and recreational activities to its visitors. Diving is the most popular and enjoyable recreation in Bohol. The islands of Panglao, Balicasag and Pamilacan are rated amongst the best diving spots in the world. Bohol also has some of the loveliest beaches of Philippines including the famous Alona Beach at Panglao. Here you can enjoy an exciting range of water sports including swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Dolphin and whale watching are other interesting activities that you can enjoy on your Bohol Tour.
